Court Calls for Understanding and Empathy

A recent decision of Justice Myers stresses that cooperation between counsel and parties is essential during this period of emergency caused by COVID-19.

In Campbell v. 1493951 Ontario Inc., 2020 ONSC 2942, Justice Myers stated, “The court calls on counsel and the parties to recognize the need for and the high value placed on cooperation in Canadian society during this emergency period. Generally speaking, now is the time for understanding and empathy rather than strict enforcement of one’s legal rights just because an opportunity has presented itself”.
