CaseLines Expected to be Implemented in All Ontario Regions by Late 2021
The CaseLines Pilot Project appears to be progressing well. CaseLines is an online document storage platform that allows counsel and parties to upload documents for review by all participants before and during hearings, including motions and pre-trial conferences.
CaseLines has now been implemented in civil and Divisional Court matters in Toronto. A Supplementary Notice to the Profession indicates that the pilot will soon be expanded to select commercial and estate list matters, bankruptcy matters, and family matters in Toronto.
The pilot will be further expanded to two additional regions in early Spring 2021. It is expected that all regions in Ontario will be using CaseLines by the end of 2021.
CaseLines does not replace the requirement for documents to be filed with the court in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure. Online filing is encouraged by the court.
