Lawyers Included in Updated List of Essential Workplaces

The Ontario government updated its list of essential workplaces yesterday in response to COVID-19. Section 34(vii) of the list is for “professional and social services that support the legal and justice system”.

The Attorney General of Ontario confirmed on Twitter that lawyers and paralegals are included within the category of “professional and social services that support the legal and justice system”.

Therefore, law offices are permitted to remain open, although most firms are substantially working remotely in any event.
